Agile WoW Transitioning

We guide teams and organizations to introduce Agile Ways of Working in a pragmatic, human, and systematic way. Starting from the client’s objectives and current state, we use an adaptive design and change approach to help build new mindset, skills and capabilities.

Agile WoW Transitioning Approach

Iterative capability and skill building

Rather than writing a blueprint of an Agile organization, we use an iterative and incremental approach to drive changes incrementally with the active participation of teams. Using a transparent backlog and change iterations (“waves”) of 1 to 3 months, we take on a limited set of changes and skills at any point in time to reach the next best state of Agile WoW capabilities.

Holistic agile connected to strategy

Implementing Agile holistically results in the best outcomes. It means we address all dimensions of the organization that contribute to value: strategy, mindset & culture, structure, processes, people, leadership, data & analytics, and technology.

The agileXL WoW Design Framework wires outcomes, capabilities, WoW operating model, and changes + skills. And with our agileXL Transitioning Framework, we build that wiring incrementally.

Transitioning Steps

Set strategic objectives and identify value drivers

Becoming Agile is usually not a target in itself. We focus with the client on achieving outcomes, both for the business and the workforce. The first step is therefore to formulate the strategic objectives and value drivers. This can be done with the help of strategy maps, business model canvases, Design Thinking, and/or market analytics.

Assess agile gaps and constraints

To drive your Agile journey, you need to understand your current state first. Assessment visualizes the gaps and constraints in your eco-system in relation to your strategic target outcomes. The results include an Agile-digital radar map and change backlog items.

AGILE & AGILITY CAPABILITY DIMENSIONS

AGILE & AGILITY CAPABILITY DIMENSIONS

The targeted strategic outcomes serve as the basis for defining the specific Agile and agility capabilities that your organization needs to possess in order to realize those targets. We divide those capabilities into dimensions and prioritize where capabilities need to be developed.

Coaching supports the implementation of changes. This change coaching is co-active and situational, i.e. uses a transformative communication process to facilitate, share experience and evoke creativity rather than advise and instruct.

IN-THE-FLOW LEARNING

A new operating model comes with new roles such as experience designers, tribal leaders and agile coaches. These roles require skills that we have not seen before. The agileXL Academy supports personalized in-the-flow learning.
